| Apple stops iOS 7.1.<b>2</b> code signing, restricts downgrading from iOS 8 Posted: 26 Sep 2014 02:44 PM PDT Apple's decision to halt iOS 7 firmware signing is part of the natural progression toward a wider iOS 8 rollout for compatible devices, which include the iPhone 4S and above, iPad 2 and above and both iPad mini models. The change was noted by developer Steven Troughton-Smith via Twitter earlier ... Who would want to downgrade when iOS8 is so much better? 2) I speculate that they are less confident with iOS8 and therefore wanted to leave everyone a Plan B in case it's needed. |

Apple no longer accepts downgrades to iOS 7.1.2. Well known ... iOS 7.1.2 is the newest iPhone/iPad and iPod Touch softwares that has an untethered jailbreak available, while those who upgraded their devices to iOS 8 or upper will not be able to return back to iOS 7.1.2, probably not in the near future... Won't help. ... iPad2 for example. It is simply not powerful enough to run IOS 8 , you are left with a paperweight and a forced upgrade to a new multi 100$ device.
